Rooibos tea is unique because it is harvested from a different plant to the teas made from the camellia sinensis plant. Rooibos is grown in the Western Cape Province and is the drink of choice in South Africa. Upon harvest the leave are green, however they transcend into a rustic shade of red when oxidized.

Difference in red and green rooibos tea is oxidation, both sorts can be found, although the oxidated (red) leaves are much more common and favoured in taste. Non-oxidised, natural leaves contain about twice as much total flavonoids as oxidised tea, however it comes down to personal preference, and it never hurts to try both in order to be completely sure of what it is that you like and suits your lifestyle.
