Orange Pekoe Tea

Orange pekoe tea is a type of strong black tea. Originally from China, this tea is primarily found in Sri Lanka and India, where the soil conditions are ideal for the plantation crop. The is often a misinterpretation that orange pekoe tea is flavoured in some way, this however is incorrect, it is simply the name of the tea which comes from the copper colour when harvested before oxidation. In the brewed tea, the colour is revived and a golden orange tinge is notable.  Orange pekoe tea may not be the first one you would notice at your local supermarket and that is because it is a very special tea, and can be found only at specialist tea shops. So if you're looking for something a little untraditional, with a traditional taste, orange pekoe tea should be your choice.
